What role you will play in our team
Join our team as a Sr. Mining Engineer and shape the future of sustainable mining and water management. We have openings in both our Mid-Range and Long-Range Planning teams. Step into a high impact role where your expertise drives protected innovative and environmentally responsible mine operations. As a Sr. Mining Engineer you will be responsible for leading the development, optimization and delivery of mine plans collaborating closely with Operations, Geology and Geotechnical teams to ensure alignment of mine plans with business objectives, regulatory compliance and long‑term resource strategies.

- Be a safety leader, support and adhere by all standards and operate with safety as a value.
- Develop mine plans providing technical guidance and recommendations on sequencing, mining rates and equipment deployment.
- Integrate mine plans with production forecasts, equipment availability and operating constraints.
- Perform schedule and haulage optimization to balance production cost and equipment utilization.
- Ensure schedules align with approved mine plan, regulatory requirements and business objectives.
- Prepare presentations, schedules and visualizations for management and stakeholders.
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to junior staff.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility with APEGA is required.
- 8 years of experience in mine engineering, planning or operations.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication and coordination skills.
- Highly motivated individual with ability to work collaboratively in multi‑disciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Oil sands mine planning experience.
- Experience with Deswik AutoCAD and any commercial mine planning software package would be an asset.
Calgary AB or Edmonton AB. As part of Imperial’s long‑term business strategy, certain Calgary‑based roles are expected to transition to Edmonton in or around 2028. Applicants should be aware that this position is expected to relocate to Edmonton at that time. Relocation support will be provided for employees impacted by this change.
