The Opportunity
As a Senior SCADA Engineer within the Electrical Engineering discipline and the ERI Sector, you will play a key role in shaping the reliability, safety, and future‑readiness of critical infrastructure systems across Canada.
You will bring senior‑level technical leadership to the design, integration, testing, and modernization of SCADA, automation, and control systems that power essential industrial, energy, and utility operations.
Your Impact- Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SCADA, automation, and industrial control systems within electrical substations.
- Develop system architecture, communication networks, HMI standards, and integration strategies for complex electrical systems.
- Oversee and perform commissioning, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT) to ensure systems operate reliably and safely.
- Provide expert guidance on cybersecurity requirements and compliance for operational technology environments.
- Deliver technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring quality standards.
- Collaborate with clients, utilities, and project partners to deliver future‑ready solutions that improve operational efficiency and resilience.
- Troubleshoot system performance issues, provide high‑value technical insight, and support root‑cause analysis.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical specifications, and design packages in alignment with ERI sector requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with eligibility or registration as a Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
- Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology.
- 10+ years of experience in SCADA, automation, industrial control systems, or electrical system integration.
- Expertise with RTU (e.g., RTAC, ignition), HMI platforms (e.g., SEL, Ignition), and electrical devices (e.g., power meters, relays).
- Strong understanding of communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC UA).
- Experience working in energy, utilities, industrial, or infrastructure environments ideally related to renewable energy (wind, solar, and BESS).
- Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and standards (NERC CIP).
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate stakeholders, and manage complex technical deliverables.
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $99,952 – $137,434
- MB & ON: $95,000 – $130,800
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $94,100 – $124,900
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
