Transmission Planning/Studies Engineer

Your ImpactThe energy industry, particularly transmission grids, is undergoing major changes to accommodate regional and global decarbonization and energy transition targets. With the growing number of large loads such as data centers, the role of transmission planners is more important than ever in shaping the grid of the future. As a transmission planning and studies engineer, you will closely work with regional and global power systems teams to support and/or lead ongoing projects as well as business development and proposal support with a number of utility clients focused in the Northeast U.S.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of steady‑state and transient power system studies.
- Participate in meetings with utilities as part of project delivery or business development.
- Lead or support project(s) throughout the whole lifecycle (from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close‑out).
- Work closely with team members across North America and globally.
- Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and other applicable technical committees and stay up to date with the latest standards and requirements.
- Advanced degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 4 years of direct experience with power system studies using PSS/E, TARA and/or PSCAD.
- Strong background with at least one of the following system operators: ISO‑NE, NYISO, PJM, IESO.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge and experience with NERC, FERC, and NPCC reliability standards.
- Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel within North America.
- Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) license.
- Preferred:
Direct experience with National Grid and/or Eversource, and experience with large loads such as data centers.
Posted Salary Range: $ – $. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
