Partner Staffing on behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Structural Technologist to join our Edmonton team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in designing and detailing structural systems for commercial, institutional, and government buildings. You will support structural engineers in producing high-quality drawing packages, coordinating multidisciplinary design requirements, and ensuring that structural solutions meet project objectives for safety, efficiency, and constructability.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, models, and specifications for commercial buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and government projects.
- Develop structural layouts, including foundations, concrete, steel, timber, and masonry systems.
- Produce and manage 3D models (Revit) and 2D CAD drawings, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with design standards.
- Assist engineers with design calculations, load paths, and technical documentation.
- Conduct design coordination with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil teams.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submissions, supporting construction administration activities.
- Participate in site inspections to verify alignment with drawings and specifications.
- Maintain drawing standards, file management, and project documentation.
- Support quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with building codes, provincial regulations, and project‑specific requirements.
- Mentor junior technologists as needed and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting and modeling workflows.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering Technology or related field.
- 7+ years of structural technologist experience, preferably within commercial or institutional building sectors.
- Extensive proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and structural drafting/modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of NBCC, Alberta Building Code, CSA standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience in concrete, steel, wood, and masonry building systems.
- Knowledge of construction processes and familiarity with field review procedures.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with a collaborative team mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and deliver high‑quality technical work.
