About the RoleWe are seeking a highly experienced Planning & Scheduling Engineer III. This position is ideal for a front-end focused planner who excels in early-stage project development—not just execution scheduling. You will play a critical role in shaping project outcomes by developing integrated schedules from concept through execution, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across a global delivery model.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage project schedules from early-stage (front-end) through execution
- Lead planning strategy development, including alignment with gate-based project systems
- Establish and maintain progress measurement systems, including tracking, verification, and reporting
- Mentor junior planning and project controls staff and contribute to team capability development
- Drive capital efficiency through strong planning practices and proactive schedule control
- Review and assess contractor schedules for:
- Logic, sequencing, and level of detail
- Alignment with project scope, WBS, and cost estimates
- Interface integration with other project elements
- Provide schedule assurance and forecasting, identifying trends and deviations early
- Set expectations and cadence for contractor deliverables and schedule updates
- Collaborate closely with:
- Project Engineers
- Discipline Engineers
- Construction Teams
- Third-party Contractors
- Front-end project planning & scheduling
- Owner-side project planning (preferred)
- Early-phase strategy and development
- Schedule integration and lifecycle support
- ~15+ years of experience in project controls with a strong focus on planning & scheduling
- Proven experience in early-phase (front-end) project development
- Demonstrated ability to build schedules from concept, not just manage during construction
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience influencing cross-functional teams and driving alignment
- Industry experience in:
- Upstream Oil & Gas
- Mining / Heavy Civil
- Experience working on both Owner and EPC sides (strong asset)
- Experience with brownfield / sustaining capital projects
- Familiarity with gate-based project systems
- Thrives in early-stage project environments
- Has experience on owner-side planning teams
- Can influence and align diverse stakeholders
- Is known for strong collaboration and mentorship
- Brings both strategic insight and hands‑on execution
