Reserve Engineer; On-site Alberta

The Reserve Engineer (RE) is knowledgeable with computer hardware and provides top-notch customer service. The RE serves as Cobalt’s boots on the ground and is part of our rapid-response field-operations team in the event of a hardware failure at a client site. Occasionally, REs assist with field projects and new robot deployments. This position is not remote.

• Learn our robot hardware inside and out to service and maintain our machines (paid training provided).
• Communicate with both technical and non-technical teammates regarding field repairs and projects.
• Identify and address hardware failures on our robots and resolve them in a safe and timely manner.
• Occasionally assist with field operation projects and new robot deployments.
• Be dispatched to client sites within your area to resolve hardware failures 1–3 times per month (potentially more).
• Report to a Regional Project Manager for tasking and delegation.

• Associate degree or higher.
• Experience with robotics.
• Experience with computer hardware and electrical components (proprietary training provided).
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Military or first responder background is a plus.
• Familiar with hardware assembly/disassembly; toolkit with basic hand tools provided.
• Familiar with platforms such as Slack, Google Meet/Hangouts; excels in communication and collaboration.
• Available Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with flex/on-call schedule; open to after-hours and weekend support as needed.
• Presentable and comfortable speaking with clients from Fortune 100 & 500 companies.

The Reserve Engineer is a 1099 contractor position and is not remote. Compensation ranges from $20–$50 per hour, DOE. Cobalt Robotics does not pay for relocation for this role.
