EXP is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Contaminated Sites Lead to join our Environmental Services team in Edmonton, Alberta.

This is a leadership-focused role for an accomplished environmental professional who is passionate about growing client relationships, leading complex contaminated sites projects, mentoring technical teams, and contributing to the strategic growth of our Alberta practice.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, provide technical leadership on environmental assessment and remediation projects, and help expand EXP’s presence across the energy, industrial, commercial, infrastructure, and government sectors.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Technical Leadership & Project Delivery

  • Lead and oversee complex contaminated sites projects, including:
    o Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
    o Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs)
    o Remediation and reclamation programs
    o Risk assessments and risk management plans
    o Site closure strategies and regulatory applications
  • Provide senior technical direction and quality reviews for environmental reports, work plans, and regulatory submissions.
  • Develop innovative and practical solutions to complex environmental challenges.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Client Development & Market Growth

  • Build, maintain, and expand relationships with key clients across Alberta.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the contaminated sites, energy, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Lead proposal development, client presentations, and project interviews.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives and contribute to achieving business objectives for the Environmental Services group.
  • Project Management

  • Direct all aspects of project execution including scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project performance and financial metrics to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and develop junior and intermediate environmental professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on safety, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
  • Support recruitment, staff development, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Share knowledge and best practices across EXP's national environmental network.
  • What your experience looks like

  • 15+ years of environmental consulting experience, with a strong focus on contaminated sites assessment, remediation, and risk management in Alberta.
  • Demonstrated success managing and delivering complex environmental projects for oil and gas, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure clients.
  • Proven business development experience with an established network of industry contacts in Alberta.
  • Strong understanding of Alberta regulatory frameworks, including experience with submissions to:
    o Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA)
    o Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring environmental professionals.
