Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for an Environmental/Regulatory Advisor to join their team on a 1-year contract in Edmonton, AB.
What role will you play in our team  You will work as part of the Environment and Regulatory team at the Imperial Strathcona Refinery in Edmonton, Alberta, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and approvals, leveraging your skills and experience to provide guidance to the operating unit and other advisors, and supporting implementation of the company's environmental strategy.
What you will do   Providing ongoing technical support to the operating unit on environmental issues, regulatory compliance and applicable legislation requirements
Supporting QA/QC of site regulatory compliance documentation
Development and implementation of environmental standards and managing systems, including review of the regulatory impact of new and revised legislation
Leading and completing specific environmental management project(s) or improvement opportunities which could involve developing new management systems, guidelines, or tools
Supporting environmental performance reporting with accuracy and timeliness as required by regulations and license approvals
Supporting environmental protection and regulatory compliance efforts at the site, including support regarding day-to-day operations in one of the following areas:
Ecology including wildlife, biodiversity and vegetation management
Spill prevention and response
Water management including chemical and physical hydrology and hydrogeology
Air management including air emissions, inventories and modelling
Updating manuals and documentation as required

Skills & Qualifications   Post secondary degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management or Engineering with an Environmental / Civil major, or comparable
5 - 10 years of industry or government experience with Environmental and Regulatory requirements associated with the Oil and Gas industry in Alberta
Valid Class 5 driver's license and comfortable driving a pick-up truck.

Self-motivation with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to adapt to challenging projects, working at a high pace and often changing work environment
Critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems
Proficiency with computer-based data management programs, spreadsheet and presentation applications

Experience with APEA, AER, Permit Approval Processes and Requirements
