The Junior Urban Planner supports the creation of plans and policies that guide the development, zoning, and management of land in cities and regions. This role supports your career growth as a planner and offers many opportunities for professional development through hands‑on planning experience. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, the Urban Planner contributes to high‑quality, innovative, and practical planning solutions that serve a wide range of clients and project types.

Responsibilities:

• Manages urban planning projects under the supervision of senior team members.
• Conducts research on urban development trends, demographics, and land use.
• Develops land use plans, zoning regulations, and policies.
• Writes proposals and prepares reports with oversight from senior team members.
• Creates plans that address housing, transportation, infrastructure, and environmental challenges in partnership with other teams and disciplines.
• Collects and analyzes data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use, projects future community needs, and prepares narrative reports.
• Applies knowledge of municipal governance structures, planning legislation, standards, and practices.
• Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Works on diverse projects across several different service areas.
• Cross-collaborates in a team environment.
