ControllerOur client is seeking an ambitious and strategic Controller to lead the financial function and support the organization's aggressive growth goals. This role is responsible for producing monthly financial statements, managing cash flow, overseeing payroll, and handling accounts payable and receivable. As the sole accountant, you will have autonomy to develop the finance department and influence key business decisions. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, payroll compliance expertise, and the ability to partner with leadership as a strategic advisor.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and cash flow reportsManage payroll processes, ensuring compliance and accurate commission payoutsOversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functionsFacilitate corporate and provincial tax requirements in collaboration with external accounting firmsImplement and optimize financial processes, leveraging technology and AI tools for efficiencyCollaborate closely with the Director of Payroll and Director of Compliance to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherenceSupport leadership with financial insights and participate in strategic planning meetingsTransition into an executive team role within three months, contributing to long-term growth strategiesCommunicate effectively with brokers and internal stakeholders to resolve inquiries promptlyDrive continuous improvement in financial systems and internal controlsYour strengths include:CPA designation or equivalent3+ years with a public accounting firm and 3+ years in industryStrong technical accounting and payroll compliance knowledgeExperience with Quick Books and payroll systems (e.g., Scarlett)Ability to manage complexity across multiple divisions and entitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with brokers and leadershipEntrepreneurial mindset with energy, ambition, and a drive for growthAbility to work independently and influence financial strategyHigh attention to detail and strong analytical skills
