Position: Intern, Financial Planning (Network Operations)
Job Summary The Financial Intern is responsible for providing financial oversight for the Network Operations Business Unit (BU). This position provides financial insights to build an improved business model, proactively driving value through informed and insightful decision-making, fostering a culture of cost consciousness, control, simplification, and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities
Assist in budgeting, forecasting and analyzing capital and operating expensesPrepare year-end outlook (YEO) based on actual results and spending trends, and drive cost improvements with support from senior financial partnersPrepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on expenditures and key performance metrics, including various analysis as required Monitor, analyze and explain monthly operating results against budget and forecast Preparation and distribution of financial reports to BU, taxation and Accounting Property Preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecastsAssist in management of accrued liabilities in compliance with corporate accounting rulesPrepare business cases, benefits identification and quantification and ROI analysisRequirements
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, preparing business cases and productivity reportsAccounting experience in journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing financial reportsExperience working in a CN business unit*Inspires others with impactful communications and adapts to the audienceApplies analytical thinking to make recommendations that pursue sustainable performanceInitiates and drives organizational changes to enable business transformationCollaborates with key internal stakeholders to enable higher productivityShares timely information within and across functions to get things done effectivelyKnows the business and stays current with industry trends to elevate expertiseInfluences by translating expertise into practical business outcomesAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Advanced knowledge of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Essbase, business objects*Education
Working towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, or BusinessCharted Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards** Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
