Assistant Controller – Ben Stelter School Fundraiser

The finance team is responsible for managing all the finances for the BSSF, including tracking the amount of money raised, budgeting and managing expenses, and creating prediction models.

This role focuses on keeping the fundraiser on track and making it easy for the team and the public to see the numbers behind the scenes. Last year, the BSSF kept its expenses to just 2.6%, far below the national average. The Assistant Controller will help ensure we maintain that low expense ratio as the BSSF expands.

Duration:
March 2026 – January 2027. Commitment varies by season; expect 5–7 hours per week on average, with busier late‑spring/summer months and lighter fall months. Some work may need to be done within specific time frames.

• Build and maintain a donation tracking system for cash and online donations from participating schools.
• Build and organize a budgeting system, tracking expenses, invoices, and reimbursements.
• Build prediction models to predict and estimate revenues.
• Publish and create visual representations of expenses for the public and the BSSF team.
• Work with the entire team to ensure all numbers are accurate and easy to understand.

• Basic understanding of Google Sheets, including formulas, tools, and spreadsheet building.
• Organized and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to collaborate with a team and take direction from the Financial Director and senior controller.
• Own laptop with internet access and camera.
• Must be a Canadian grade‑school student in grades 7‑12 during the 2026‑2027 school year.
