Location: NiskuAssistant ControllerOur client is seeking a driven and detail‑focused Assistant Controller to oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities and take ownership of recurring financial reporting across multiple legal entities. This role is responsible for leading the close and reporting cycle, strengthening controls and workflows, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and providing practical finance support to operational teams. The ideal candidate brings a CPA designation, strong Excel capability, proven people leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑moving environment.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Lead the monthly close process and ensure financial deliverables are accurate, complete, and on timeReview financial reporting packages and supporting schedules for consistency and qualityProvide meaningful insights through variance analysis, rolling forecasts, and cash flow projectionsOversee core accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany activity, and treasury transactionsSupport annual budgeting and ongoing reforecasting activitiesCoordinate compliance requirements and support external audits through documentation and audit response managementImprove the efficiency and reliability of accounts payable and receivable processesPartner with operational leaders to align financial practices with business needs and support operational finance initiativesLead, coach, and develop a small accounting team through regular feedback and clear prioritizationPromote accountability, follow‑through, and continuous improvement across the teamYour strengths include:CPA designation2+ years of full‑cycle accounting experience2+ years of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or mentorship roleAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExperience with ERP systems such as Business Central, SAP, or JD Edwards (asset)Exposure to operational finance, logistics, transportation, or job‑costing environments (asset)Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skillsAbility to perform effectively in a dynamic, deadline‑driven environmentCollaborative, ownership‑driven, and team‑first mindset
