Location: Spruce GroveSenior Project AccountantOur client is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Project Accountant to join their Operational Finance Team. This role is responsible for managing project financial integrity, leading a team of project accountants, and delivering strategic financial insights to support business performance across multiple regions and divisions. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership skills, project finance expertise, and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Lead and mentor a team of project accountants, ensuring quality deliverables and professional developmentOversee project financial setup and updates to reflect accurate contract values, including change orders and POsCollaborate with Project Managers to review profitability, prepare ETCs/EACs, and address financial issues related to earnings and cash flowEnsure compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies, including Percentage of Completion (POC) revenue recognitionMonitor and optimize working capital, WIP accuracy, and billing conversionDevelop budgets, forecasts, and performance dashboards, challenging assumptions to improve accuracyProvide detailed variance analysis and commentary on monthly and quarterly resultsSupport cross-functional teams with financial models, business cases, and reporting improvementsAssist with audits, month-end close, and ad hoc reporting requirementsDrive continuous improvement initiatives and lead special projectsYour strengths include:University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (MBA or accounting designation in progress is an asset)3-5 years of progressive experience in financial and project accounting, ideally in construction or telecomStrong knowledge of POC accounting and internal project controlsAdvanced Excel skills (macros), Power BI development, and proficiency in Access and Power Point Experience with ERP systems and project management modulesExcellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data for non-financial stakeholdersStrong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
