The Police Report Classifier Unit requires two (2) Police Report Classifier to perform complex support duties related to the accurate processing of police reports for the Records Management System.
Responsibilities include:
Proofreading police reports and preparing applicable coding for entry into information data systems.Collecting relevant Statistics Canada crime data to complete the Uniform Crime Report.Disseminating reports to outside agencies and other areas within Edmonton Police Service.Controlling the release of case file information as per EPS policy and procedure.Independently exercising sound judgment in the interpretation of policies and procedures and Uniform Crime Reporting regulations.Verifying, amending and Quality Control within the Records Management System.Performing other related duties as required.Job Requirements:
Completion of high school supplemented by a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience within a law enforcement environment.Experience in handling police reports and records including the interpretation and statistical coding of police reports.Experience in composing written correspondence is an asset. Skills testing may be performed.A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience within a police environment.A minimum of one (1) year experience working with UCR 2.2 and UCR 2.4 would be considered an asset.Related Certificate, Diploma, Degree, or other education would be considered an asset.Experience in handling police reports and records.Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook.Working knowledge of Alberta FOIPP legislation, municipal bylaws, Provincial Statutes, Statistics Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada.Advanced proficiency with EPROS/Niche and NicheUAProven ability to make independent sound decisions.Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.Ability to process high volumes of work accurately and efficiently.Strong interpersonal communication skills.Ability to read graphic content in police reports.Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 014, $29.924 - $37.552 (Hourly), $2,393.90 - $3,004.20 (Bi-Weekly), $62,481.31 - $78,408.58 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
