Take on a critical role in community safety as a Fire Prevention Officer with the City of Edmonton. This position focuses on inspections, enforcement, and public education about fire hazards.
As a member of the Fire Prevention team, your main tasks will include inspecting structures for compliance with fire safety codes and educating property owners about safety measures. You will prepare and issue reports, letters, and notices while actively participating in community safety campaigns. Reporting directly to the Fire Marshal, you will help elevate fire safety standards in Edmonton.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect various buildings for fire compliance and hazards
• Prepare inspection reports and issue corrective actions
• Review building plans for safety until completion
• Engage in safety promotions within the community
• Conduct night patrols for compliance at nightlife establishments
Requirements:
• Completed Grade 12 and valid Class 5 Alberta license
• Must hold Fire Safety Codes Officer certification
• One year of relevant experience or alternate qualifications
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Adaptability to diverse environmental conditions
