Become an Urban Parks Planner with the City of Edmonton and make a positive impact on urban green spaces. This role is perfect for those who are passionate about combining environmental stewardship with community development.
As a Parkland Management Planner I, you will work closely with diverse stakeholders while reporting to a Planner II. Your key duties will involve evaluating development plans, applying municipal policies, and fostering collaboration to enhance accessibility and sustainability in Edmonton’s parks. You will help define community ownership of shared spaces and strengthen environmental management efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess development and temporary use proposals for parks
• Implement Edmonton Zoning Bylaw and Public Spaces Bylaw
• Train project proponents on development standards
• Assist with community engagement related to projects
• Provide tailored information through research and analysis
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or related discipline
• At least two years of relevant planning experience
• Strong knowledge of urban design principles and legislation
• Proficient in geospatial software and analysis
• Effective communication and prioritization abilities
