Role Responsibilities
The Intelligence Analyst collects, analyzes, and communicates consumer-related intelligence from a range of sources, including informants, witnesses, databases, stakeholders, and open-source information. The role supports assessments, inspections, investigations, operational planning, and strategic decision-making by preparing intelligence products such as reports, charts, assessments, bulletins, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
This position plays both a tactical and strategic role in assessing offensive marketplace conduct, identifying emerging consumer threats, supporting investigative priorities, and helping determine the effective allocation of CIU resources.
Your key responsibilities include:
Conducting behavioural, spatial, temporal, trend, and pattern analysis to identify consumer-related risks, threats, and enforcement priorities.Accessing internal and external databases, open sources, and advanced analytical tools to gather and interpret consumer and criminal intelligence information.Developing strategic intelligence packages, association charts, timelines, event-flow products, threat assessments, operational assessments, and recommendations to support prevention, education, and enforcement action.Identifying intelligence gaps, investigative challenges, relationships between information sources, and opportunities to strengthen investigative strategies.Providing statistical summaries, explanations, guidance, and subject matter expertise to support management and operational decision-making.Liaising with internal CIU teams, CPAO stakeholders, external partners, and enforcement agencies to coordinate intelligence sharing and analytical support.Protecting the privacy of individuals by ensuring work is conducted in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.Participating in investigations on a limited and secondary basis, including gathering evidence, interviewing parties, examining records, preserving evidence, and supporting enforcement recommendations.Building effective relationships with law enforcement partners, government representatives, regulatory stakeholders, and other jurisdictions to support the Ministry’s mandate and enhance CIU operations.What you'll bring to the role:
