South Riverdale Community Health Centre is a non-profit, multi-service organization that provides primary healthcare, social and community outreach services with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention primarily to people of East Toronto. Our mission is to improve the lives of people that face barriers to physical, mental, spiritual and social well‑being. The Researcher will coordinate and conduct research and evaluation activities related to substance use and mental health programs at the health centre. Working onsite is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate and implement research and evaluation projects at SRCHC including the creation of data collection instruments, analysis plans and written reports
  • Work in collaboration with CATIE and the Toronto Community Hep C partnership in supporting Ontario Hep C Elimination Strategies
  • Work in collaboration with SRCHC staff teams, consulting specialists, patient advisory groups, partner organizations (including academics, Ontario Health Teams, and hospitals) and community to create, implement and manage research activities that are related to substance use and mental health
  • Provide and promote training, support and capacity‑building in research, evaluation and knowledge exchange activities for SRCHC staff and community members
  • Present and disseminate research/evaluation findings in a variety of formats including: posters, oral presentations, plain language reports and peer reviewed journal publications
  • Participate in community and academic research partnerships, collaborations, networks and advisory committees on poverty, drug use and health issues
  • Seek out and coordinate applications for research funding as needed
  • Consult with the SRCHC Leadership Group as needed regarding research initiatives in alignment with Research policies
  • Assist on research initiatives that further the overall work of the centre as required
  • Coordinate and contribute to the planning, policy development, proposal writing and community engagement activities to support SRCHC’s mental health and substance use programming, as needed
  • Maintain updated research meeting minutes, organizing virtual research meetings, coordinating and drafting letters of support for collaborative studies, etc.
  • Functions effectively, professionally, collaboratively and respectfully with external partners
  • Other duties as assigned, including ad hoc research related tasks
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience facilitating and supporting community based participatory research methods
  • Qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation methods
  • Community Based Participatory Research methods
  • Project Management/coordination
  • Demonstrated respect for diversity, equity, anti‑racism and accessibility with the ability to work collaboratively and positively with others
  • Strong understanding of Harm Reduction principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience in community‑based research
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds from an equity perspective
