Position: Locum Phlebotomist (Islandwide/ 1 year contract
Location: Leduc

Locum Phlebotomist (Islandwide/ 1 year contract)

Support day‑to‑day blood donation operations by assisting with donor flow and on‑site preparation across multiple collection locations.

Provide attentive donor care before, during, and after the blood donation process, ensuring a positive and safe experience.

Carry out blood collection procedures, including venepuncture for whole blood donation, in accordance with established clinical protocols and safety standards.

Prepare, label, and handle blood collection equipment and consumables accurately to support smooth operations.

Monitor donors for any signs of discomfort or adverse reactions and provide immediate assistance while escalating concerns to senior clinical staff when required.

Maintain accurate documentation and records related to donor information, blood collection, and any incidents during donation sessions.

Work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team to set up, operate, and close donation areas, including cleaning and equipment management.

Adhere strictly to regulatory requirements, infection control practices, and standard operating procedures at all times.

What Are We Looking For?

Minimum GCE “O” Level qualification or equivalent, with an interest in healthcare or clinical operations.

Valid nursing registration
or recognised phlebotomy certification with hands‑on venepuncture experience.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and AED certification.

Prior exposure to healthcare, laboratory, or clinical environments is advantageous but not mandatory.

Comfortable working flexible shifts, including weekdays and weekends, based on operational needs.

Able to work flexible shifts on both weekdays and weekends, including weekday shifts between 8.30am–6pm or 11.30am–9pm
, and weekend shifts between 9am–6pm
.

Willingness to travel between different work locations as required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage donors professionally and calmly.

Able to follow detailed procedures, maintain accuracy, and remain composed in fast‑paced or sensitive situations.
