DescriptionAs an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) with ALTA Paramedic Health (APH), your responsibilities include assessing emergency scenes and patients, transporting ill or injured individuals from emergency scenes and between facilities, and operating ambulance and other transport modes. You will administer medications, use advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts, deliver electrical therapy, and lead the ALS team during transport or will also support vehicle readiness by ensuring ambulances and other transport units are properly stocked, maintained, and equipped in accordance with APH standards.
Work conditions include all‑weather travel, remote locations, hazardous and graphic scenes, and a physically demanding environment. You must be able to lift up to 105 lbs, kneel and flex the trunk for extended periods, stand or sit for long durations, and side‑carry up to 20 lbs in each hand while assuming awkward positions.
- Non‑restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) CPR certification.
- Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator’s Licence (or equivalent) and a five‑year driver abstract dated within six months prior to commencing work, with no more than six demerits.
- Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, verified by a certificate from Lifemark, completed no more than six months prior to the date of application.
- Capability to perform full operational duties as of the start date.
- Driver’s licence and use of a vehicle provided by APH.
- Previous EMS experience in metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility environments, and experience in other areas of Health Care and Public Safety.
- Completion of additional post‑secondary programs is considered an asset.
- Provide documentation of post‑secondary education or training at the time of application.
