Job Opportunity

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services staff member (cleaner/housekeeper trained for healthcare settings). AHS will provide training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff/public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. AHS offers a competitive hourly rate and a Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000 per year.

• Clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments, including patient rooms, clinical areas, and office areas.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors and walkways.
• Restock supplies in bathrooms.
• Strip linens and make beds.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration.
• Wash ceilings, windows, and other surfaces thoroughly.
• Empty hazardous waste containers.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and linen stock.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards to the Working Leader.
• Provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

• Required: Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate computers and smartphones.
• Physical ability to stand, walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive movements.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Communication skills—able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Dependability and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Preferred: Previous cleaning experience, particularly in a healthcare environment.

Hourly rate: $21.92 – $23.96. Hours per shift vary. Shift pattern includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call. The role is casual/relief.
