Manager, Spiritual Care Education – Parkland

Directs, organizes, and monitors all spiritual care education efforts with all Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students, spiritual care volunteers, and Parkland staff ensuring excellence in education and training to support the provision of religious, spiritual and emotional support for patients, their loved ones, and Parkland workforce members.
Minimum Specifications EducationMust have a graduate level theological degree or equivalency as determined by faith group or endorsing body
Experience- Eight (8) years of related professional spiritual care experience
- Four (4) years of experience as an ACPE Certified Educator
- Must have an Ordination or Ecclesiastical endorsement
- Must be an ACPE Certified Educator with National Faculty status
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel both orally and in writing
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of spiritual care and education theory and application techniques
- Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational and time-management skills
- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors
- Supervises CPE students’ ministry and learning through: facilitating group CPE seminars, teaching didactic material, providing individual supervision, and evaluating student performance for the purpose of enhancing ministry learning and improving interaction with patients and staff.
- Develops and implements spiritual care educational programs for Parkland staff and Parkland spiritual care volunteers.
- Collaborates with Spiritual Care department staff to ensure coordination of CPE program activities with Spiritual Care department activities and priorities.
- Proactively serves as information resource to internal and external contacts regarding Spiritual Care Education programs and develops and maintains positive relationships with area colleges, seminaries, and other educational institutions.
- Assists with spiritual care to patients and staff, including provision of decedent care, assistance with execution of Advance Directives, provision of pre-surgery coverage and on-call coverage when necessitated by department needs.
- Attends educational events, participates in ACPE peer group activities, and stays abreast of professional developments in order to maintain cutting edge educational programs for Parkland.
- Maintains national accreditation for the Clinical Pastoral Education program including program and curriculum development that meets and/or exceeds all ACPE standards and coordination of the activities of periodic accreditation.
- Maintains certification as an ACPE Certified Educator and National Faculty member and complies with the ACPE Code of Ethics.
