With direction from Willow Cree Health Services (WCHS), the incumbent will support and adhere to the Mission/Vision of the organization to provide services to the community of Beardys & Okemasis Cree Nation (BOCN). Under the supervision of the Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator, the NNADAP Addictions Counsellor will provide services including counselling to adults, case management, addictions assessments, aftercare planning and program facilitation.

This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Mental Health and Wellness program. Multi-disciplinary work will include program support to other members of the Mental Health and Wellness team, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Certificate in Human Services / Addictions Counsellor Diploma, combination of education and lived experience may be considered;
  • Experience working with clients with addictions & knowledge of treatment options;
  • Experience facilitating case management and work effectively within a case management team;
  • Report preparation, team meetings, maintenance of client records;
  • Advocate & consult with other health care providers and community agencies for clients as outlined in their treatment plan;
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and manage client cases with other health care professionals within the organization and community;
  • Provide crisis management as needed,
  • Administration duties will include completion of weekly & monthly client updates/reports using Microsoft Office, email & internet;
  • Knowledge, experience & participation within the Indigenous holistic framework of WCHS (spiritual, mental, emotional, physical activities);
  • Required to attend various related training and participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations in a professional manner;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Experience working with First Nations and a good understanding of First Nations health and social issues, history, traditions
