Elder Care Provider

We are looking for a kind, reliable and trustworthy person to provide part-time companionship and household help for our 92-year-old grandmother in Edmonton. She lives at home, and we are primarily looking for someone who can make her day-to-day life a little easier while also providing friendly companionship. This is not a heavy personal-care or nursing position. Responsibilities would include walking her dog, preparing a simple healthy meal, picking up groceries or running occasional errands, light housekeeping and tidying, and taking and recording her blood pressure using an automatic blood pressure cuff.

We would also like someone who can provide occasional transportation and accompany her to appointments or outings. She has a weekly hair appointment, so ideally this person would be able to drive her there and home and assist her getting in and out of the vehicle as needed. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with seniors, is patient and dependable, and is comfortable with dogs.

Our hope is to find one consistent person who can get to know her and develop a good relationship with her over time. Previous experience working with seniors is preferred. First Aid/CPR certification and a recent criminal record/vulnerable sector check would be an asset. A valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and appropriate auto insurance are required. References will be requested.

The position is part-time with a consistent weekly schedule, although the exact days and hours can be discussed based on availability. We are looking to hire soon.
