Role Summary
The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and Tier 3 support of business applications, as well as the design, support, and troubleshooting of system integrations and data exchanges. This role ensures that applications and integrations operate reliably, securely, and in alignment with business requirements.
The analyst acts as a subject‑matter expert for business applications and integrations, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and internal IT teams to resolve complex issues, support system changes, and maintain high‑quality documentation.
This is a hybrid role that can be done at either our Edmonton or Calgary locations. Travel will also be required across Western Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Application Implementation & Configuration
Collaborate with business stakeholders, subject‑matter experts, and end users to elicit and define functional and non-functional requirementsParticipate in software implementation projects, including solution design and build, testing, and post-deployment supportConfigure existing business applications to meet functional and operational requirementsSupport application enhancements, upgrades, patches, and release activitiesCoordinate with vendors and internal teams during implementation and change activitiesApplication Support
Provide Tier 3 support for assigned business applicationsInvestigate, diagnose, and resolve complex application incidents and problemsPerform root‑cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actionsEscalate and coordinate with vendors or technical teams as requiredIntegration & Data Exchange
Design, support, and troubleshoot system integrations and data exchangesMonitor integrations to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timelinessAnalyze and resolve integration failures, data discrepancies, and interface errorsSupport changes to existing integrations and onboarding of new interfacesEnsure integrations comply with security, data governance, and compliance standardsDocumentation & Processes
Develop and maintain technical and functional documentation for applications and integrationsCreate and update support documentation and operational proceduresDocument integration designs, data flows, and dependenciesContribute to process standardization and continuous improvement initiativesRequired Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experienceExperience supporting enterprise business applicationsExperience with system integrations, data exchanges, or interfacesTechnical & Functional Skills
Understanding of application integrations (APIs, file‑based exchanges, middleware, ETL concepts)Experience troubleshooting data flow and system interface issuesFamiliarity with relational data concepts and data validationExperience working with vendors and third‑party applicationsKnowledge of IT service management practices (incident, problem, change)Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skillsAbility to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholdersStrong documentation and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a production environmentCollaborative, service‑oriented mindsetPreferred / Assets
Experience with HRIS, ERP, Finance, CRM, or Operations systemsExposure to integration platforms or middleware toolsExperience in regulated or enterprise environmentsExperience in the transportation industryBilingualism (English/French) is preferredAdditional Requirements
