Technical Specification Representative – Glazing / Div 8
We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Technical Specification Representative for the BC and Alberta markets. This role specializes in glazing hardware, architectural hardware, and Division 08 (Openings) products, including doors, frames, entrances, storefronts, curtain walls, building envelope products, glazing systems, and related hardware. The focus is to influence product specifications, ensure proper integration of our glazing hardware and Division 08 solutions, and drive specification wins that lead to project sales.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical liaison for glazing hardware and Division 08 products, providing expert guidance on product selection, compatibility, performance, and code compliance.
Influence project specifications to incorporate our products.
Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications and prepare technical responses.
Develop and deliver technical presentations, lunch-and-learns, product demonstrations, and continuing education sessions.
Track and report on specification activity and wins; maintain accurate records in CRM and coordinate with the sales team for seamless transition to bidding and execution.
Stay current on industry standards, building codes, emerging trends in sustainable glazing-hardware, and competitor offerings to provide informed recommendations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key specifiers, architectural firms, glazing contractors, and Division 08 distributors.
Qualifications
Experience:
3+ years in the architectural products industry with direct experience in Division 08 (doors, frames, hardware) and/or glazing systems, storefront, or curtain wall applications.
Technical Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of commercial glazing hardware, door hardware, Division 08 CSI/CSC specifications (Masterspec, BSD, NMS, etc.), aluminum entrances, storefronts, curtain walls, and related glazing components. A diploma in Architectural Technology is an asset; LEED designation is an asset.
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication; strong presentation and public speaking abilities; proficiency in reading/analyzing architectural drawings and specifications; detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Other Requirements:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); willingness to travel regionally for client meetings, trade shows, and site visits; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
