Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, the Business‑Functional Analyst (BFA) is a blended analyst role that combines the disciplines of both business analysis and functional analysis. The BFA supports the strategic evolution of Academic Quality and Operational Excellence (AQOE) by serving as a subject matter expert (SME) across both business and functional analysis domains. The role is responsible for understanding business processes, operational requirements, policies, and stakeholder needs (business analysis) while also developing deep expertise in how AQOE‑sponsored platforms can be configured and utilized to support those needs (functional analysis).
As the business owner representative for assigned platforms, the BFA operates at the intersection of academic operations, policy and procedure, people, process, and technology. Working as part of a small team responsible for the lifecycle stewardship of AQOE‑sponsored platforms, the role translates organizational requirements into practical system solutions and helps ensure platforms remain aligned with institutional objectives and operational needs, and end‑users know how to leverage them.
A core responsibility of the position is driving end‑user understanding, adoption, and effective use of AQOE‑sponsored platforms. The BFA analyzes system usage, stakeholder needs, and operational challenges to identify gaps in training, documentation, and business processes, then develops practical enablement materials and delivers end‑user training to address those gaps. This includes creating and maintaining user guides, process maps, workflows, job aids, training resources, and other artifacts that support consistent, sustainable platform use across the institution.
