How you’ll make a difference:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and driven Bodily Injury Adjuster professional who is motivated by delivering high-quality service, optimizing recovery outcomes, achieving departmental objectives and performance targets.
Reporting to a Senior Bodily Injury Adjuster, this role is responsible for the end-to-end management of both minor and complex bodily injury claims while ensuring timely, fair, and thorough adjudication. This position operates in full compliance with the Workers’ Compensation Act (WCA), exercises delegated authority on behalf of the Workers’ Compensation Board, and protects the best interests of injured workers throughout the claims process.
Your responsibilities:
Review claim referrals to identify potential third-party actions.Interpret and apply the WCA, policies, and procedures to determine third-party status.Gather and analyze information in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.Assess liability, quantify damages, and evaluate legal rights and remedies under applicable legislation.Negotiate settlements with third parties, insurers, and legal representatives.Provide guidance to workers regarding their rights and obligations.Ensure compliance with legislation, case law, policy, and Levels of Authority.Secure required documentation, evidence, and expert opinions.Prepare and manage files for internal and external counsel.Support mediations, dispute resolutions, and trials as required.Maintain accurate documentation and demonstrate effective use of organizational systems.Your experience and skills:
Post-secondary education and/or a CIP or FCIP designation is preferred.Experience in the insurance industry, with a strong background in personal injury adjusting.Comprehensive knowledge of insurance principles, claims practices and procedures, and WCB policy.Strong ability to interpret and explain complex insurance and legal matters, assess liability, quantify damages, and understand relevant case law.Solid understanding of medical terminology, trauma, treatment protocols, and recovery timelines.Proven ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective negotiation abilities.Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive or potentially contentious issues while maintaining confidentiality.Sound judgement, critical thinking and effective decision-making skills.Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Proven ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business use is required.Candidates who do not fully meet the above qualifications may be considered for a junior-level opportunity.What we offer:
