Our client, a reputable Canadian insurer, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Audit & Compliance Specialist to join their underwriting team. This full-time position based in Edmonton focuses on maintaining high standards of compliance and ensuring the integrity of underwriting activities across personal and commercial lines. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in insurance audits, regulatory adherence, and process improvement to support ongoing excellence within the organization.
Compensation
The role offers a competitive base salary between $100,000 – $120,000 plus bonus, commensurate with experience and expertise in the insurance industry.Benefits & Perks

Develop, implement, and maintain audit checklists, templates, and standardized internal procedures.Conduct underwriting file audits to verify compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.Present audit findings, recommendations, and opportunities for improvement to management.Prepare reports highlighting underwriting performance, compliance metrics, and audit outcomes.Review and investigate post-decision complaints received from clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.Monitor complaint data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to support continuous improvement.Interpret applicable legislation and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.Maintain governance documentation, audit logs, and compliance tracking systems.Carry out additional responsibilities that contribute to underwriting governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience working within the insurance industry, particularly in underwriting audit and compliance in Personal and Commercial LinesExtensive knowledge of property and casualty insurance policies, claims, and coverage interpretationStrong understanding of underwriting risks and risk management principlesExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with diplomacy and tactExperience in conducting internal audits or compliance reviews preferredSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneouslyAt Aplin — together with our brands Compu Staff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems — we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
