Support communication access as a freelance CART writer with Canadian Hearing Services (CHS). This role provides real-time transcription in English or French for diverse clients in various settings.

Canadian Hearing Services is seeking a freelance CART writer to deliver accurate, confidential transcription services for the deaf and hard of hearing. With an emphasis on quality and respect for privacy, you will use platforms like Stream text and Zoom. Ideal candidates will have strong transcription skills and an understanding of Deaf culture, ensuring effective communication for all clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver real-time CART transcription for diverse community settings

• Provide verbatim captions at required speeds

• Use platforms like Stream text or 1

Cap App for transcription

• Maintain confidentiality and follow best practices

• Collaborate with clients and interpreters to enhance communication

Requirements:

• 2-3 year post-secondary diploma in Court Reporting

• 3 years of CART experience with required transcription speed

• Membership in an appropriate professional association

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

• Knowledge of Deaf culture
