As an LRT Cleaner, you will be a key part of making sure our trains and train stations are clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone who uses them. Your hard work will keep our city moving smoothly and make people feel good about riding the train. This is a great chance to work with a friendly team and do important work for our city.

What will you do?
Inside the train:
You will sweep and vacuum the floors, wipe down seats and railings, and make sure the driver’s area is clean. You will also hand wash the inside walls and windows and get rid of things like gum and graffiti
Outside the train:
You will wash the outside of the trains and clear away snow and ice to keep things safe
Keep things stocked:
You will make sure each train has the equipment and supplies it needs
Keep the shop clean:
You will help keep the areas where the trains are worked on tidy, by sweeping, emptying garbage bins, and cleaning any spills
Help out:
You will help report if a train is damaged and report lost and found items on the train. You may also help the team with other tasks as they come up
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Some cleaning experience is required
Assets
Industrial, warehouse, or equipment, mechanical/automotive shop environment or car detailing experience
Current Standard First Aid and WHMIS
Experience with data entry and using software such as google applications
Skills required for success
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety related to the use of a variety of cleaning products and chemicals
Proven ability to work in a fast work environment
Ability to communicate well with others both verbally and in writing
Ability to comprehend and interpret MSDS sheets.
Ability to follow WHMIS
Demonstrated work ethic and a willingness and ability to learn on the job and update skills Committed to safety using Occupational Health and Safety and environmental standards and procedures
Ability to work in an environment that may include heat, cold, wet, dust, and noise
Ability to move well physically which may include bending, kneeling and lifting and also be able to use hands skillfully to do the work
Ability to wear a face mask for a long period of time
Conduct work in a manner that complies with the requirements set out in the City's Environmental Management System (EMS)
Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style

Conditions of Employment
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent);
Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
Candidates will be required to take a pre-employment Functional Abilities Assessment Evaluation (F.A.R.E. test) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
Must be able to work 8-hour shifts, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, with two consecutive off days per week
Work Environment
Must be able to work in many types of environmental conditions, including extremely cold or hot temperatures, and with exposure to chemicals, toxins, and other hazards
Must wear required protective equipment, including safety footwear, gloves, eye protection, and respiratory protection as needed

2 permanent full-time positions
Hours of Work : 40 hours per week. Our LRT Garage runs 24 hours each day/ 7 days per week. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of the variable hours work program
Salary : $23.891 - $28.132 (Hourly), $49,884.410 - $58,739.620 (Annually)
