Your Opportunity

Our Edmonton office is looking for a Senior Manager to join our BDO Personal Debt Solutions team and own the following responsibilities:

  • Manage consumer bankruptcy and proposal files
  • Provide advice on current bankruptcy laws and practices, conduct debtor assessments, and manage recovery of assets (including acting as Receivers)
  • Supervise staff and delegate tasks and projects as required
  • Ongoing communications with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, and the Courts through creditor meetings, reports, attendance at Court, etc.
  • Identify, target, and develop referral sources.
  • Assist with practice development assignments and travel to other BDO offices and satellite locations as required
  • Assist with managing court files, including taxation of fees

  • Your experience and education

  • 5 or more years of related experience within the Insolvency field; while corporate insolvency experience is an asset, the primary focus will be on consumer work
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of insolvency rules, laws, and procedures
  • Fully Licensed Insolvency Trustee (Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP)
  • Accounting designation (CPA-CA/CPA-CMA/CPA-CGA) is an asset
  • Able to prioritize with the flexibility to manage workload demands and multiple tasks as required
  • Flexibility on working hours as some evening work will be required
  • Willingness to travel to assist in the coverage of satellite offices
