The Role  Reporting to the Manager of Customer Experience, the Adoptions Supervisor oversees daily adoption operations to ensure successful matches and provides education to adopters regarding animal care needs. This role maintains a strong public presence, upholds exceptional customer service standards, and manages staff scheduling. The Adoptions Supervisor also supports the Animal Care and Admitting teams as needed to ensure high standards of animal welfare and customer service are consistently maintained.
Staff Management   Coach, develop, and motivate staff through one-on-one meetings, performance development discussions, and regular floor presence.
Conduct investigations related to incidents and performance concerns as required, identifying effective resolutions.
Collaborate with other supervisors to develop and implement plans that enhance staff morale and engagement.
Deliver excellent customer service and education by answering questions and resolving concerns or complaints
Maintain comprehensive knowledge and training across all operational areas, including Admitting, Adoptions and Animal Care to provide seamless cross departmental support
Administration   Participate in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff and volunteers.
Review and maintain accurate animal records in Shelter Buddy.
Ensure compliance with policies, protocols, and standards related to cleaning and sanitation.
Perform daily opening and closing administrative duties, including ordering and receiving shelter supplies.
Create and maintain current SOPs, forms, and health and safety documentation.
Manage daily team scheduling through ADP.
Assist in budget development and capital projects.
Education & Requirements   High school diploma required.
Minimum six months of supervisory or leadership experience required.
Minimum six months of customer service experience required.
Intermediate computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet applications.
Experience working with and handling animals.
Skills & Abilities  The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills and experience handling animals, including those in distress or deceased. You are passionate about coaching and mentoring staff, fostering a collaborative, engaged, and productive team environment. You thrive in a fast-paced setting and can effectively multitask with minimal supervision. With excellent communication skills and knowledge of emergency response protocols, you remain calm and empathetic in high-pressure situations.
