Impact (Responsibilities)
  • Orchestrate Machine Setups:
    Own the end‑to‑end setup of complex CNC mills and/or lathes, transforming raw technical data into physical reality.
  • Command Production Workflows:
    Execute precise machining runs independently, ensuring aggressive production deadlines are met without compromising part integrity.
  • Troubleshoot & Optimize:
    Diagnose, interpret, and fine‑tune CNC programming and machine behaviors on the fly to maximize uptime and efficiency.
  • Validate Component Accuracy:
    Champion strict quality control standards by interpreting intricate blueprints and work orders to verify parts match exact specifications.
  • Foster a Quality Culture:
    Collaborate actively with the manufacturing team to drive continuous improvement initiatives and uphold rigorous safety protocols.
Who You Are (Requirements)
  • The Machining Veteran:
    You bring proven, hands‑on experience setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, or both in a professional manufacturing setting.
  • The Blueprint Expert:
    You fluently read and translate complex industrial blueprints, work orders, and technical design schematics.
  • The Precision Instrumentalist:
    You are highly proficient with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other advanced measuring tools to guarantee micrometric accuracy.
  • The G‑Code Interpreter:
    You possess a strong foundational knowledge of CNC programming, allowing you to confidently navigate and adjust machine code.

    You thrive in high‑velocity environments, working with minimal supervision to deliver flawless results under tight timelines.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain safe operations at all times and follow company QHSE standards and practices.
  • Study work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, specifications, and machining parameters.
  • Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches.
  • Calculate machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting 3‑jaw and 4‑jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
  • Load machines by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring first‑run parts and sample work pieces.
  • Deburr final machined pieces as needed.
  • Observe machine operations, detect malfunctions, and troubleshoot processes.
  • Complete production and quality logs, including quality forms and daily product sheets.
  • Operate lifting devices such as overhead cranes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as directed by management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of machinist experience.
  • 2–3 years of CNC mill and/or lathe setup experience.
  • Knowledge of Okuma G‑Code and Fanuc operational systems.
  • CNC certificate is considered an asset.
  • CNC programming experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of machine tooling.
  • Knowledge of ISO and API is considered an asset.
  • Ability to accurately interpret work orders, sketches, blueprints, and verbal instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of measuring tools, including calipers, OD/s, height gauges, thread wires, and thread gauges.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, detect abnormal running conditions, and maintain high‑quality standards.
