Masco Crane & Hoist has an immediate opening for 1st – 2nd Year Apprentice Welder to join our team. The successful candidate will play a very important role in the manufacturing process, under the supervision of the Journeyman Welder, the Apprentice Welder will assist in the manufacture and assembly of various steel projects including skids, overhead crane and other fabricated systems.
The Apprentice Welder has the opportunity for ongoing career advancement with our company through training in the classroom and on the job. The Apprentice Welder will work alongside trained Journeyman Welders and trained Red Seal Electricians performing welding, grinding and cutting metals of various steel products.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in the manufacture of various steel products such as skids and overhead cranes.
- Read blueprints and specifications to assist with the manufacture of various steel products.
- Weld metal components using the SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW process.
- Operate tools and equipment including overhead cranes, torches, gouging equipment and sub-Arc welding machines.
- Follow weld procedures to ensure quality products are manufactured at all times.
- Produce top quality products while meeting project deadlines.
- Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the foreman.
- Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs as required by Masco Steel Industries.
- Clean up shop and worksite from hazardous or obsolete material.
- Work assignment must be carried out to the highest quality standards.
- Ensure that the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
- Applicant must be reliable, committed, dedicated with excellent communication skills.
- Applicant must adhere to all company policies including working safely and observing all safety rules to provide a safe environment for all employees.
- Applicant must comply and exercise all safety practices (Masco’s Health & Safety Practices and the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHS).
- At least 1-year welding knowledge and experience is required.
- Proven experience within a welding/fabrication environment.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques is necessary.
- Ability to operate forklift and other fabrication tools safely.
- Must be a team player willing to assist and help fellow colleagues.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, manual dexterity with ability to lift up to 50 lbs and good eye coordination.
- Preference will be given to candidates with Apprentice Welder Training, First Aid and WHIMIS.

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
