Overview
The NPI Assembly Technician supports the development and production of mechanical systems and components through precision assembly and related tasks. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, assembling mechanical parts, and collaborating with engineering and production teams.
During periods of downtime, the technician will be required to temporarily relocate to one of our plants facilities to support ongoing operations.
Work Environment
This role is based in Edmonton, Alberta, within an industrial manufacturing facility. The technician will work in a production and shop setting, handling hands-on tasks with mechanical components. Flexibility to support multiple projects and relocate to nearby plant operations during downtime is required. Occasional overtime may also be necessary during critical project phases
Key Responsibilities
Assemble mechanical components and systems based on engineering drawings and specificationsUse shop tools such as saws, grinders, and shears to support custom buildsRead and interpret blueprints, BOMs, and fabrication drawingsPerform quality checks and dimensional inspections on parts and assembliesCollaborate with engineering and production teams to refine processes and improve manufacturabilityMaintain accurate records of build data and process improvementsSupport Continuous Improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practicesFollow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work areaRequired Skills
Proficiency in mechanical assembly techniquesAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematicsSkilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical measuring instrumentsBasic metalworking experience is an assetStrong attention to detail and manual dexterityEffective communication and teamwork skillsQualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; trades training or certification preferred2+ years of experience in mechanical assemblyForklift, Crane, and First Aid certification are required but not mandatory at time of hire – proper training will be providedExperience with ERP systems and documentation tools is a plus
