The Edmonton Police Service is seeking a dynamic Public Information Officer III who will supervise a high-performing communications team. This role involves providing expert guidance on public and media relations, managing critical information flow, and developing communication strategies aligned with EPS goals. You will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring the readiness of spokespeople during media engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide guidance on public relations and crisis communications
• Develop and measure communication strategies aligned with EPS goals
• Coordinate media training for spokespeople and management
• Plan media events including press conferences and interviews
• Maintain relationships with the Police Commission and City of Edmonton
Requirements:
• University degree in communications or related field
• Four years of progressively responsible public relations experience
• Two years of management experience in communications
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Understanding of social media platforms
