Communications Officer in Public Education

Location: Morinville

Shape communications for Sturgeon Public Schools as a Communications Officer, leading efforts in public engagement, media relations, and community outreach. Support the Superintendent and drive trust in the educational Division.

As Communications Officer, you will report directly to the Superintendent and provide essential support to the Board of Trustees.

Your role is centered on strategic communications that build public understanding and confidence in Sturgeon Public Schools. This involves consistent messaging across all platforms and effective stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and evaluate Division-wide public engagement strategies

• Guide leadership on communications related to sensitive issues

• Develop media content, publications, and responses for the public

• Facilitate community engagement and Division-wide events

• Manage the organization's digital presence and branding

Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree in Communications or related area

• 3-5 years of community engagement or public relations experience

• Proven track record in supporting senior leaders

• Exceptional communication and organizational skills

• Familiarity with educational settings and community needs
