Responsibilities
- Community Outreach, Program Promotion, and Participant Recruitment to engage youth in volunteerism and civic engagement.
- Conduct outreach to recruit new, eligible youth participants, including Indigenous and underserved youth from equity-deserving groups.
- Tailor outreach activities to diverse groups and communities.
- Present the program to youth groups, schools, community partners, and other stakeholders to communicate program objectives and time requirements.
- Establish and maintain relationships with non‑profit partners to develop volunteer placement opportunities for youth.
- Develop new relationships with community agencies to ensure effective partnerships and wraparound support for youth.
- Attend community networking meetings, youth-focused events, and other opportunities to recruit participants and partners.
- Collaborate with The Career Foundation Communications Specialist to develop marketing campaigns and promote the program to new participants via social media channels.
- Coordinate guest speakers, group mentorship events, and other initiatives to support youth program participants in achieving successful outcomes.
- Facilitate information sessions and pre-placement workshops and deliver engaging workshops in person and virtually (Zoom and MS Teams).
- Proactively seek marketing opportunities to feature the program within the communities served and host information sessions to raise awareness.
- Enter and maintain thorough written documentation in online data reporting systems; keep files up to date for audits.
- Support program management in preparing marketing-related communications, including success stories and entries for annual reports.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- Lead and facilitate workshops, ensuring clear understanding of objectives and time commitments.
- Deliver engaging, interactive workshops and activities; involve youth in discussions and group work.
- Provide individual job coaching to youth, encourage application of workshop skills, and conduct placement-specific interview preparation.
- Research, design, and update workshop materials to be youth-friendly and focused on civic engagement and volunteerism.
- Build rapport and maintain effective relationships with youth during workshops and one-on-one coaching.
- Ensure participants understand materials and can apply knowledge; manage group work in virtual and in-person settings.
- Coordinate guest speakers, training sessions, and group mentorship events; manage conflicts proactively when needed.
- Prepare and maintain documentation on intakes, referrals, attendance, suitability indicators, outcomes, and related information.
- Utilize digital systems and Career Foundation tools to support youth in achieving positive outcomes.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, business, or human/social services is highly preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in community outreach, marketing, or recruitment, or relevant transferable experience.
- Experience facilitating workshops with high participant engagement and completion rates is an asset.
- Valid Alberta driver’s license without restrictions and reliable vehicle for work-related travel in communities served.
- Experience working with youth, including Indigenous or underserved equity-deserving groups, is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Bilingualism is an asset.
- Proven track record in a results-driven environment with experience meeting targets.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills and ability to develop rapport with diverse stakeholder groups.
- High emotional intelligence, patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with youth of varied experiences and needs.
- Knowledge of current labour market trends, job search techniques, and youth employment research (asset).
- Professional and courteous client service with respect for diversity; uphold organizational service standards and core values.
- High ethics and confidentiality, with experience handling sensitive information with tact and judgment.
