Overview
Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Wound Care Clinic & Inpatient Wound Care Team, the Registered Nurse performs assessment, intervention, and follow‑up care for ambulatory wound clinic patients and provides consultative services across the site as the content expert on the management of wounds as a member of the Inpatient Wound Care Team. The Registered Nurse makes recommendations and provides wound care management strategies and prevention therapies.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for triaging patients, and scheduling patient visits in the ambulatory wound clinic and on the inpatient units. Works collaboratively with clerical staff, dietitians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, inpatient units, and related ambulatory clinics. Works in collaboration with patients, family members, family physicians, specialists and community partners. Physical job demands are classified as high.

Required Qualifications
Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level
C) required. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are also required:
CRNA Medication Administration Certificate

Additional
Required Qualifications
Completion of the Enterostomal Therapy (ET)/Nurse Specializing in Wound, Ostomy & Continence (NSWOC) Certificate, Canadian Association of Wound Care (CAWC) certificate or equivalent wound management certification.
Two (2) years’ experience in acute care or an ambulatory care setting focusing on chronic wound management.
Must demonstrate a complete understanding of wound assessment/treatment.
Must have knowledge of The Regional Wound Care Guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Excellent assessment and organizational skills.
Charge Nurse experience preferred.
Connect Care experience in scheduling, template building, referral management and documentation.
