Opportunity  Assisted Living Alberta is dedicated to Enhancing Care in the Community, helping people be healthy, well, and independent in their homes and communities. The Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas:
Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services, and Palliative Care. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. As a self‑directed team member with Continuing Care in the Edmonton zone, the Registered Nurse works collaboratively with the health‑care team, assessing needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals, and evaluating outcomes.

The role also includes case management and direct client care that meets established clinical standards and is evidence‑based and client‑centered. The Registered Nurse acts as a consultant on the team, providing clinical expertise and direction to other members regarding client cases, developing care plans based on unmet needs, and using appropriate internal and external resources. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the role includes staff development and mentoring student clinical experiences.

This is a designated float position to support the network office, with scheduling on various shifts and allocation to specific geographical teams as needed.

Description  As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while ensuring their safety and well‑being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, and teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.

You will provide safe, quality, patient‑ and family‑centered care reflecting the shared vision and values.

PLEASE NOTE:

Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Compensation and Logistics
Minimum Salary: $44.56 per hour
Maximum Salary: $60.98 per hour

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
If not practiced as a RN within the past five (5) years, completion of free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1‑4) and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification

Required Qualifications
Two years of recent nursing experience (obtained within the last 5 years) or completion of a refresher program within 2 years
Self‑directed with the ability to work independently and use sound professional judgement
Excellent organizational skills to prioritize and efficiently manage many details in a timely manner
Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team, clients, and families in a fast‑paced environment
Competency in computer programs (Microsoft Office, Visio, Outlook, Internet) and typing speed sufficient to meet workload demand
Physically capable of performing nursing tasks, including transfer of clients, and of lifting/carrying medical bags weighing approximately 25–30 lbs
Ability to work independently in clients’ homes—including congregate settings, single‑family dwellings, condos, and walk‑up apartments—across different environments and weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in nursing (preferred)
Palliative care experience
Previous Continuing Care and/or geriatric experience

Experience with Connect Care and the RAI Home Care assessment tool
Two years current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care
