Your Opportunity:
As an ORT (Operating Room Technician) for Unit 210 Surgical Suite in the Orthopedic Surgery Centre (OSC) at the Royal Alexandra Hospital you will be responsible for providing peri-operative patient care for arthroplasty, urology, bariatric, breast and general surgery patients. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Operating Room Technician (ORT) will be responsible for providing peri-operative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance with CLPNA and Standards of Practice and Competencies for the Perioperative LPN.
The incumbent will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care in both the scrub and circulating roles as an integral part of their surgical team. The ORT will also be expected to work in the Pre-Op area, providing safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite and promotes their professional role, evaluating their own educational requirements and clinical practice.
The ORT will work within their full scope of practice on a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The nurse will practice using evidence based measures and outcomes, they will be a patient advocate and provide a link patient care units and the Operating Room.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
