Are you an Indigenous student interested in forestry, land stewardship, natural resources, or working outdoors? This hands‑on forestry internship is designed to help First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students explore career pathways in Canadian Timberlands while building practical skills, confidence, and connections.
An opportunity built for learning, support, and connection.This internship offers exposure to forest measurements, GIS, silviculture, harvest and haul, operational planning, and road development, with regular support from local teams and a Weyerhaeuser sponsor. As part of our commitment to inclusion and reconciliation, we are working to build meaningful relationships through ongoing learning, respect, and community engagement.
Opportunities are available in Alberta (Drayton Valley, Edson, Grande Prairie), Saskatchewan (Hudson Bay), and Ontario (Kenora). These temporary full‑time roles are expected to start in early May 2027 and end in late August 2027.

- Indigenous students who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis
- Students enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Postgraduate program in Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or related field of study at an accredited college or university
- Students who will have completed their first year of studies by the start of the internship
- Students with a valid, condition‑free driver’s license (requirements may vary by province) or will possess one by the start of onboarding
- Students with basic Microsoft Office skills
- Students comfortable working safely in field environments, including remote forestland areas, varied weather conditions, and able to meet the physical demands of fieldwork, including safely lifting up to 50 lbs, operating ATVs and 4WD vehicles
- Interest in forestry, land stewardship, environmental practices, or natural resource management
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and learning in a field-based environment
- Forestry, outdoor, land-based, or natural resources experience gained through school, community, family, or employment
- Ability to use a compass and/or GPS applications, maps, or field date collection tools
- Experience driving a pickup on varying terrains such as steep inclines, dirt roads, wet or snow‑covered roads as well as towing a trailer
- Valid First Aid training
- Previous completion of an ATV Safety Course or willingness to complete required safety training
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn
