Position
Shop Quality Manager

This role is responsible for managing shop quality systems, inspection activities, documentation, turnover, weld quality, code compliance, client requirements, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with the Shop Manager, Project Managers, Welding Examiner, QC Inspectors, Supervisors, Foremen, Welders, Fitters, Estimators, and clients to ensure fabrication work is completed to specification, on schedule, and with complete documentation.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day quality management for Canoco’s fabrication shop.

Ensure shop work is completed to applicable code, client, regulatory, and Canoco quality requirements.

Support pressure piping, structural steel, vessel, exchanger-related, repair/alteration, and custom fabrication quality requirements.

Manage ITPs, hold points, witness points, inspection records, weld maps, NDE, pressure testing, and turnover documentation.

Review drawings, specifications, quality requirements, procedures, and project documentation.

Verify MTRs, heat numbers, material traceability, weld logs, NDE reports, test records, calibration records, and turnover packages.

Coordinate with shop leadership, project teams, inspectors, NDE providers, client inspectors, and regulatory representatives.

Manage NCRs, corrective actions, repairs, rework, and quality issue resolution.

Coach and support QC Inspectors, shop supervision, fitters, and welders on quality expectations.

Support audits, inspections, client reviews, and continuous improvement.

Help reduce rework, improve first-pass quality, and protect fabrication schedule.

Requirements

Must have experience in fabrication shop quality, pressure piping, structural steel, vessels, exchangers, or industrial construction.

Strong understanding of shop quality control and quality management systems.

Working knowledge of ABSA, ASME, CSA, CWB, National Board, and client quality requirements.

Ability to read drawings, isometrics, weld maps, ITPs, specifications, and procedures.

Strong understanding of welding, NDE, pressure testing, material traceability, and turnover documentation.

Strong leadership, communication, organization, and follow-up skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

CWB Level 2 or Level 3 certification considered an asset.

Experience with ABSA pressure equipment programs and CWB structural fabrication considered an asset.
