Position: Visiting Scientist for Geospatial Models
Join Planet’s transformative AI Research team as a Visiting Staff Scientist. Lead the creation of proprietary geospatial foundation models to support the mission of a 'Queryable Earth'.

This one-year sabbatical residency calls for a distinguished scientist to innovate within diverse collaborations. You will conduct pioneering research focused on building in-house models capable of capturing fast-changing environmental dynamics. The role combines remote sensing expertise with AI/ML to enhance the utilization of Planet Scope data’s high spatial resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead development of geospatial foundation models (GFMs)

• Create temporally dense embeddings for dynamic environmental tracking

• Collaborate across disciplines to build AI/ML solutions

• Oversee automated pipelines for planetary-scale datasets

• Guide research on flood impacts and water dynamics

Requirements:

• PhD and current Professor status in relevant fields

• 12+ years of experience in remote sensing analytics

• Expertise in multimodal AI and foundation models

• Proficient in Python and scientific data tools

• Proven record in leading high-impact geospatial research
