Explore advanced forest growth modeling as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Alberta. This three-year, in-person role at North Campus focuses on integrating remote sensing into forest management practices.
You will be responsible for innovating forest dynamics models specific to the Western Boreal and Rocky Mountain regions. Your work will include leading critical evaluations of existing models and designing reproducible workflows to integrate long-term data with modern remote sensing approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead model evaluation and enhancements for forest dynamics
• Design reproducible workflows with remote sensing datasets
• Implement simulation-ready systems for management use
• Produce technical publications and knowledge transfer materials
• Collaborate on modeling efforts with partners and lab members
Requirements:
• Earned PhD in Forestry or related field within the last 5 years
• Demonstrated ability with statistical or mathematical models
• Evidence of independent research leadership
• Proficiency in R/Python and coding best practices
• Interest in integrating remote sensing into forestry applications
