Position

Do you enjoy solving complex problems with research and data? Are you looking for an opportunity to support collective bargaining and organizational strategy? If so, HSAA is seeking a Research & Policy Analyst to join our Health Economics team.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health Economics, you will conduct workforce, labour market, compensation, and health system research that supports collective bargaining, organizational planning, advocacy, and evidence-based decision-making. Working closely with Labour Relations Officers, bargaining teams, and leadership, you will provide research and analysis that informs bargaining strategies and organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct workforce, labour market, compensation, and health system research to support collective bargaining and organizational priorities.
  • Analyze data and identify trends to provide evidence-based insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor legislative, economic, labour market, and health system developments that may affect HSAA members and bargaining priorities.
  • Prepare reports, briefing materials, costing analyses, and presentations to support bargaining and organizational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to gather information and maintain research resources that support organizational priorities.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Health Policy, Public Policy, Political Science, Labour Relations, Statistics, Business, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is considered an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in research, policy analysis, labour market analysis, economics, health‑care analytics, workforce planning, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting collective bargaining through compensation analysis, labour market research, or comparative research is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies, labour markets, compensation, workforce trends, public policy, and collective bargaining.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative information, identify trends, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, briefing notes, presentations, and research summaries.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with data visualization, survey platforms, or statistical software is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for occasional travel within Alberta.
