This collaborative funding initiative encourages research teams to address the increasing consumption of UPFs among Canadians and its link to adverse health outcomes. Teams will explore biological mechanisms, dietary impacts, and structural determinants of UPFs. Through this research, applicants aim to bridge gaps in the current understanding and improve health equity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct studies on the health impacts of UPFs
• Analyze socio-demographic variations in UPF consumption
• Engage with community stakeholders for interventions
• Develop collaborative methodologies across disciplines
• Prepare research proposals that meet funding standards
Requirements:
• Independent Canadian researcher as Nominated Principal Applicant
• Must include Early Career Researchers in the team
• Adherence to tri-agency CV requirements
• Integration of EDI considerations in research proposals
• Commitment to addressing Indigenous health needs in research
The findings will support evidence-informed policies to mitigate UPF related health issues.
