General Postdoctoral Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training About

The Role

What if your years of rigorous research and deep domain expertise could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems think and reason? We're looking for postdoctoral researchers, PhD holders, and Masters-level experts to help train cutting-edge AI models — designing complex, high-quality problems that push the boundaries of machine reasoning across STEM and highly technical fields.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for serious researchers. No AI background required — just the intellectual horsepower and academic discipline you've already earned.

  • Organization:
    Alignerr
  • Type:
    Hourly Contract
  • Location:

    Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
  • Design and develop advanced, multi-disciplinary problems with real-world relevance that challenge and improve AI reasoning
  • Apply your research expertise to craft complex problem statements across your domain
  • Review and evaluate AI-generated solutions for academic rigor, depth, and accuracy
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to enhance model performance
  • Ensure clarity, intellectual depth, and methodological soundness across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
  • Hold a Master's or PhD in a STEM or highly technical field from a leading university
  • Have a strong track record of research, publications, or complex project work
  • Exceptionally clear and precise written communicator — you can translate hard ideas into sharp, structured language
  • Detail-oriented and rigorous — you apply the same standards to your work here as you do in your research
  • Fluent in English and currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, U.K., or Australia
  • Training and onboarding support will be provided
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other research-oriented programming languages
  • Background spanning multiple STEM disciplines or interdisciplinary research areas
  • Familiarity with AI tools, large language models, or benchmarking frameworks
Why Join Us
  • Work on frontier AI projects alongside the world's leading research labs
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
  • Put your expertise to use in a way that directly shapes the future of AI reasoning
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
